John Jay High School, Fine Arts Building Replacement

R-S-C-R provided the structural design and detailed structural drawings for this 70,000-SF fine arts addition at John Jay High School. The addition consists of a 900-seat auditorium with theater-grade sound and lighting equipment. It also included a stage with a full fly loft, a mechanically operated orchestra pit, small theatre and support spaces. The new building will also include orchestra rooms, band halls, art classrooms and ancillary facilities.
The structural system consists of a reinforced concrete pan-joist system supported on drilled piers. The roof framing consists of a metal deck, bars joists and wide flange beams.
