Firm Overview
Founded in 1950 in San Antonio, Texas by Charles A. Reynolds, Jr., PE, R-S-C-R, Inc. (formerly Reynolds-Schlattner-Chetter-Roll, Inc.) has been operating for 74 years. Today, R-S-C-R continues to provide quality structural engineering services on new construction, modifications, renovations and additions throughout the State of Texas, including working within occupied facilities. Our continued success is due to our staff’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
Our team is experienced and familiar with historic, green and environmentally sensitive infrastructure. We have provided services to federal, state and local agencies for repairs, remodels and/or renovations of historic buildings, such as colleges, churches, office buildings, post offices, libraries, museums and judicial facilities. The R-S-C-R team brings more than 160 years of combined structural engineering experience. Led by Ron Podojil, PE, our team is committed to high professional standards and ensuring every project is executed with precision and integrity. From institutional developments to specialized private and government projects, our leaders guide R-S-C-R with vision and dedication.
Leadership
RON PODOJIL, PE
Ron Podojil is an accomplished engineer with nearly 30 years of experience specializing in various markets, including K-12 education, higher education, healthcare, municipal, industrial and private. Ron’s expertise spans various regions across South and Central Texas. He has a proven track record for completing challenging institutional projects in a timely manner and a reputation for being responsive to clients’ needs. Ron believes in constant communication to develop cost effective solutions. He enjoys collaborating with colleagues and is constantly looking to improve contract documents and the way they are conveyed to the contractor, owner and design team.
RICHARD CHETTER, PE
A veteran in the industry with 46 years of experience, Richard Chetter brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to any project. This experience affords Richard a combination of technical expertise and common sense to solving the most challenging opportunities. He excels at conveying complex situations clearly and effectively, ensuring easy understanding with a proven ability to manage projects to on-time and in-budget completion. Richard has been a key contributor to many of the major projects designed by R-S-C-R.
Staff Engineers
STEVE SMITH, PE
Steve Smith has 31 years of structural engineering experience, practicing extensively in the United States as well as internationally. He excels in project leadership, building design, construction, repairs, conversions and extensions on buildings. Skilled in evaluating immediate loads and future demands on structures, Steve collaborates with architects and is actively involved in all project stages. He is an effective communicator who builds positive relationships and conveys concepts to diverse audiences.
RICK PENSHORN, PE
Rick Penshorn brings more than 45 years of dedicated experience in structural design and analysis, specializing in concrete, steel and masonry structures. He has worked on projects in both the private and public sectors, including work at U.S. military bases and active airports. Rick’s extensive project experience ensures successful project delivery and contributes to R-S-C-R’s overall client experience.
DANIEL BARRERA
Daniel Barrera has seven years of structural engineering experience and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is currently an Engineer-in-Training and preparing for his Professional Engineering license. Daniel’s expertise spans across educational, municipal and healthcare projects. His attention to detail and commitment to quality have made a positive impact on local communities. Daniel’s dedication to continuous learning and practical problem-solving makes him an asset to any project.
JULIAN GARCIA
Julian Garcia serves as a Staff Engineer at R-S-C-R. He has two years of experience in the industry and holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering with a strong focus on Structural Engineering. Julian is a dedicated and meticulous designer who brings intricate attention to detail to every project, making certain all deadlines are met in a timely manner. Julian has experience designing for K-12 education, higher education, healthcare and out-of-state projects. With a passion for creating impactful and functional designs, Julian consistently delivers high-quality results that exceed client expectations.
