Central Utility Plant & Oil Storage Facility

Designed for LEED® certification and using BIM (REVIT) technology, R-S-C-R, Inc. provided the structural design and detailed structural drawings for this project, which involved the construction of a new central utility plant (CUP) within and at the grade level of an existing parking garage, adjacent to an existing CUP. The project also involved a linking tunnel from the new CUP to a new 12-story trauma tower, under an existing 12-story trauma tower. Mass excavation was required prior to the construction of the CUP, which required several structural analyzes prior to excavation procedures.
The oil storage facility consisted of a storage tank housed within one of the circular ramps servicing the existing parking garage. New drilled piers were installed supporting the foundation for the tank. The existing concrete walls were added to a composite roof deck installed over the storage tank.
