Description: Project included providing structural engineering services for the 3000 MT (Metric Ton) Press Addition to the Toyota Manufacturing Plant. The project required deep excavations inside an occupied facility. To accommodate the press requirements, walls retaining 25’-0” deep excavation were required. The foundation supporting the press was designed for a dynamic load of 680,000 pounds at the bottom of the 25’-0” pit. This project also required the design of approximately 100 linear feet of tunnel for the conveyer system. The tunnel’s roof slab is designed for a live load of 2000 pounds per square foot.
